Israeli forces admitted a “breach of protocol” after securing a wounded Palestinian man to his vehicle during a raid in Jenin, West Bank. The incident came to light after a video circulated on social media.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has openly admitted that its soldiers deviated from established procedures in this matter.
According to an IDF statement, the man was injured by gunfire during the operation.
According to that statement, the man who was found injured and tied to the vehicle was a suspect.
What did the family of the injured person say?
Family members of the injured man shown in the video said they had called an ambulance for him.
Despite his requests, Israeli soldiers took the injured man and secured him on the hood of a jeep.Family members said that soldiers later took away the vehicle.
The man was eventually transferred to the Red Crescent for medical treatment.
The IDF has announced its intention to thoroughly investigate the incident.
Eyewitnesses told Reuters news agency that he was a local resident named Mujahid Azmi.
The IDF responded, saying,
“This morning [Saturday], militants began firing on IDF soldiers during a counter-terrorism operation targeting suspects in the Wadi Burkin area, who returned fire.” The statement continued, saying one suspect suffered injuries during the exchange and was later captured. The IDF acknowledged, “Security forces handcuffed the suspect in violation of orders and operational protocols.”
The IDF concluded, “The conduct seen in the video of the incident is not consistent with IDF principles. The matter will be investigated and appropriate steps will be taken.”

Violence has intensified in the West Bank since the beginning of the Israel-Gaza conflict, which was sparked by Hamas’ deadly attack on southern Israel on October 7 last year.

Last October, about 1,200 people lost their lives in Hamas attacks. Since then, more than 37,500 people have been killed in Israeli attacks on Gaza, according to Gaza’s health ministry under Hamas. It is reported that almost half of these casualties are children and women.
